About Us

The Maha Swamiji of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam had cherished a desire to revive Kanchipuram to its pristine glory as a center
of learning.

Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, formed under the aegis of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Charitable Trust in 1993, is located in a sprawling complex of 50 acres at Enathur, at a distance of about 4 Kilometres from Kanchipuram.

The University has a unique focus on integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific practices with a global outlook.

The Viswa Mahavidyalaya at Kanchi was established with the benign Blessings of Their Holiness Pujyasri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and Pujyasri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamiji and it attained the status of Deemed University in 1993.

Our Vision

Quality higher education rooted in the Indian values system that is affordable and accessible for all sections of society – irrespective of their social and economic standing.

We strive to identify the innate talents of our students, bring out their hidden potential and help them develop their personality through a holistic and value-system driven approach.

About The Emblem

The motto "vande sadgurum chandrasekharam" means 'I adore the virtuous preceptor' Guru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Maha Swamigal, by whose name the Viswa Mahavidyalaya is established and stands to fulfill his great vision.
The illuminous blessing palm symbolizes the vast knowledge he transformed to generations. The joining of the thumb and forefinger denotes the merger of Brahma and Jeeva (the Advaita philosophy), which can also be interpreted as integration of the ancient Vedic knowledge with the modern scientific knowledge.
The vyasapeetha (Wooden pedestal for holding books) and the grantha (Palm leaves) represent Ghatikasthanam (place of knowledge) – the eighteen Vidyasthanams and sixty four traditional arts of our culture.
